Leadership Changes at Randolph Health

ASHEBORO - Randolph Health Chief Executive Officer Steven E. Eblin has announced his plans to resign, effective October 2, 2018. Angela Orth, FACHE, COO, at Randolph Health has been named the new Chief Executive Officer and she will assume those responsibilities on July 1st.

Eblin will continue at Randolph Health until October 2nd serving as a transition advisor to Angela Orth, FACHE, CEO.

“Organizations evolve over time, as does what they need from their leader. What Randolph needed from its leader when I became CEO in March of 2012 was consistent with my skill set and experience. As Randolph Health evolves into its next chapter, it needs a CEO with strong operational expertise and someone who can positively and effectively lead rapid change. Luckily, we already have that person in the organization. It’s Angie Orth. She is among the most talented, driven and dedicated professionals with whom I have ever worked. Her skill set is incredibly diverse. Knowing that the Board would promote Angie to CEO and that she would accept it is the only thing that gave me comfort resigning at this time. She is the right leader at the right time for Randolph” said Steven Eblin, CEO, Randolph Health.

“Steve has been with Randolph Health for 25 years, first as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Development, and the last six as CEO. He has always remained dedicated to ensuring quality healthcare in Randolph County. We are now widely recognized by multiple organizations for our high quality and low cost. That is largely due to the culture change Steve and his leadership team have created, empowering employees, physicians and volunteers to pull together as a team and be accountable to put the patient’s needs first,” said Mac Pugh, Chairman of the Randolph Health Board of Directors.

“Steve approached a few Board members and Angie in February with his opinion that the organization has evolved, that it’s time for a different type of leader, and that the leader should be Angie. As we now begin talks with potential new integration partners and make necessary changes to our business model, Steve has suggested that now is the time for a leadership transition. On behalf of the Board I would like to sincerely thank Steve for his leadership and passion for Randolph Health and this community,” continued Pugh.

Orth will take over the duties of CEO on July 1st. She joined Randolph Health in January 2013 as the Chief Operating Officer. Since joining Randolph Health, Orth has built high performing teams, developed bench strength and stabilized high stress environments, positioning the organization for the future. She has established trust among employees and physicians. She has coached and mentored many years, giving her the insight and skill needed to create Randolph’s Leadership Academy. Through her leadership, she has improved productivity standards, benchmarks and redeployment of resources through system-wide LEAN initiatives. She was instrumental in negotiating the Management Services Agreement with Cone Health and has been a leader in efforts to select an integration partner. Orth serves on the Board of the Randolph County United Way and has previously served as the Chair of the Central Asheboro Boys and Girls Club.

“I want to thank the Board of Directors for the opportunity to be Randolph Health’s next CEO. I have been very fortunate to have worked closely with Steve Eblin over the last five years and during these very challenging times. I am passionate about health care and especially about working to preserve local health care in this community. As health care continues to change, we will adapt to what is needed locally and create a model of care that meets the health care needs of the residents of Randolph County and beyond,” said Angela Orth, FACHE, COO, Randolph Health.

Pugh continued, “Angie has been an integral part of an excellent management team, which has guided the health system through the changing health care landscape. In her new role as CEO, I feel certain that even in these uncertain times, she is the right person to lead Randolph Health. Her honesty and integrity, work ethic and ability to lead through a rapidly changing environment, will guide this organization successfully down a path to a very bright future for our health system and the communities we serve. We are thrilled that Angie will be our new CEO.”
