Fight Cancer With Your Fork

ASHEBORO – Healthy eating and exercise can sometimes seem like a burden, but it doesn’t have to be. It can be as simple as choosing an apple over a cupcake or walking for 10 minutes instead of sitting. Besides helping manage weight, healthy eating and exercise can also help lower your risk for diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer.

Randolph Health Cancer Center is proud to partner with the Randolph County Senior Adults Association to provide a community cooking demonstration, Fight Cancer With Your Fork. Karen Pfohl, RD, LDN, clinical dietitian with Randolph Health Cancer Center, will host this event. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Randolph County Senior Adults – 347 W. Salisbury St., Asheboro.

Participants are invited to learn about healthy, balanced, diets, which focus on heart-healthy eating by incorporating fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds. During her presentation, Pfohl will conduct a healthy and delicious meal demonstration and participants will have a chance to taste and take the recipe home with them.

Fight Cancer With Your Fork is a free event that is open to the community. It is one of several community events offered throughout the year. Please register for this event by logging on to www.randolphhospital.org and clicking the “Events” tab, or by calling (336) 633-7788.
