Free Pediatric Speech Screening

Communication disorders are among the most common disabilities in the US. 28 - 60% of children with a speech and language deficit have a sibling and/or parent who is also affected. By the 1st grade, roughly 5% of children have noticeable speech disorders, the majority of which have no known cause.

Licensed speech-language pathologists at Randolph Health are conducting a FREE Pediatric Speech Screening for children age 6 and under.

Did you know that there are certain speech milestones for children? By the age of 18 months, children should be using at least 50 words and should be combining some words. By the age of 2 years, children should be easily understood by people outside of their family. Children at 4 years old should be answering what and where questions and children at 5 years old should be saying most of their sounds correctly.

If you’ve noticed that your child isn’t reaching one of these milestones, then you should register for this FREE screening. The sooner a communication disorder can be identified, the better opportunity to get the support and services needed for that children to have a positive outcome later in life.
