Fight Cancer with Your Fork – Whole Grains Style

Healthy eating and exercise can sometimes seem like a burden, but it doesn’t have to be. It can be as simple as choosing an apple over a cupcake or walking for 10 minutes instead of sitting. Besides helping manage weight, healthy eating and exercise can also help lower your risk for diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer. Nancy Bean, RD, LDN, with Randolph Hospital, will host a community seminar called Fight Cancer with Your Fork. The event will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Randolph Hospital. Participants are invited to learn about Whole Grains, which focuses on the health benefits and health risk reductions with Whole Grain intake. There have been clinical studies that show reduction in certain types of cancer with Whole Grain intake. In Bean’s presentation, she will discussion how to determine what foods are whole grains, recommended daily intake, and storage and preparation of Whole Grains. She will be doing a cooking demonstration of Tutti Frutti Rice Salad.
