Randolph Hospital Wins Best Practice Partner Award
(Charlotte, NC. – May 22, 2012) – Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC has been recognized with a Best Practice Partner award by Courtemanche & Associates, (C&A) a healthcare consulting firm based in Charlotte. The Best Practice Partner Award showcases healthcare organizations who have achieved organizational success by developing creative solutions to challenging issues, while enhancing the quality of care delivered to their communities. Each year, C&A recognizes hospitals across the country who have demonstrated a direct impact on patient care through the many facets of regulatory compliance and improvements in clinical quality and operational outcomes. Along with Randolph Hospital – four other hospitals will receive this award including: Trinity Health – Minot ND, Howard General Hospital – Columbia MD, Inova Health System –Fairfax VA, and Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Hospitals (HAHV) - Kingston NY.
Randolph Hospital was chosen for their program, “Just Culture Strategies”. Randolph Hospital managers and medical staff leaders wanted to create an environment within the organizational culture to allow more opportunity for constructive feedback and to perform critical analysis of near misses and adverse events. Through the new initiative “Just Culture Strategies” the hospital has developed several programs including: a baseline culture of safety survey, management and medical staff training, staff education, policy and procedure revisions and a new online variance reporting process. These initiatives have created more consistency with how unsafe practices were handled, improved communication and increased reporting of safety concerns resulting in safer processes for patient care.
The Best Practice Awards will be presented at C&A’s 2012 Annual Conference, “Developing a Culture of Change, The Picture of Compliance” to be held in Philadelphia, PA May 16-17. Award winning organizations are invited to share their innovative best practices with conference attendees.
